Bison Grab Two From Scots In CCC Duel

Gordon College Softball returned to the diamond this afternoon to square off against Nichols College in Dudley, Massachusetts where the Bison swept the Fighting Scots, 4-1 and 4-3 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play.

The Scots continue their road stint as they travel to Weston, Massachusetts on Tuesday, April 16 to face Regis College starting at 3 p.m.

Game One
  • With the bases loaded, Rose Shannon drove a single to center to score Caitlin Catalanotto for the game's first run.
  • The Scots held onto the one-run lead until Nichols' Cassidy Aiello (So./Brighton, Mass.) singled up the middle to bring home Cara Mayhew (Jr./Brooklyn, Conn.) to tie it up in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Nichols continued to string hits together as the Bison scored twice in the fifth to take a two-run lead and added another in the sixth which secured the 4-1 victory for the Bison.
Game Two
  • Megan Jenkerson knocked in Karissa Hatchell to grab the 1-0 lead in the top of the first. Jenkerson grabbed her second RBI of the day in the third as the senior belted a sacrifice fly to left to score Hatchell again to take a two-run lead.
  • Nichols' Samantha Kostek (Fr./Oxford, Conn.) hit a solo shot in the home half of the third to cut the lead in half. An inning later, the Bison scored three runs off of four hits to double up the Scots, 4-2.
  • With runners on the corners in the top of the fifth, Shannon pulled a single through the left side to score Emma DuBois who led off the inning with a double.
  • The Scots' bats were held in check by Candice Nelson (Fr./Oxford, Mass.) for their final at bats in the sixth and seventh as Nichols held on for the narrow 4-3 victory to secure the sweep.
