Traveling to Biddeford, Maine today for the University of New England (UNE) Invitational, the Gordon College Women's and Men's Cross Country Teams posted numerous personal bests on the afternoon.
The women who ran the 5k, came in sixth place out of 11 teams scoring a total of 155 points, just five behind St. Joseph's who earned a fifth-place finish.
Bridget Hill and
Angie Epplett each ran a personal best on a very tough UNE course with times of 20:03 and 21:04, respectively. Hill's time earned her a 17th place finish while Epplett scored herself a 32nd place finish. Rounding out the top-five finished on the women's side were
Karly Smith who crossed the line at 21:42,
Amanda Page at 22:15.5, and
Annabel Smith who booked a 22:20.4 time on the day.Â
On the men's side, freshman
Evan Page was the first Scot to cross the finish line with a time of 28:23.5 which was good enough for 23rd place in the men's 8k.
Sebastian Toro followed right behind with a 28:52.8 time,
Jonathan Van Bebber (29:14.6),
William Hunt (29:33.1), and
Cameron Abbot (30:19.6) rounded out the top five-finishers for the blue and white. The Scots tallied 162 points for their fifth-place finish, finishing just ahead of conference foe Nichols.
Overall there were 27 personal bests on the day for the women's and men's squad combined.Â
The Fighting Scots host Pop Crowell on Saturday, September 21 with the women running at 10:45 a.m. and the men starting at 11:30 a.m.
