With their third Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) matchup this week, Gordon College Women's Basketball traveled to Bristol, Rhode Island to square off against the Roger Williams University Hawks. The Hawks defeated the Fighting Scots by a score of 68-40 to improve to 8-7 on the season and 4-2 in CCC play while the Scots drop to 8-6 and 3-2 in league action.
For the Fighting Scots,
Olivia Gagnon had 10 points,
Sarah Gibbs had nine points and as many rebounds, while
Meghan Foley had nine points and six rebounds.
Karli Opalka (So./Southbury, Conn.) led the way for Roger Williams with 26 points, Sam Leone (Sr./Ashland, Mass.) had nine points, and Kendi Barnard (Fr./Bedford, N.H.) had nine rebounds and six points.
How It Happened
- The Hawks led 9-4 three minutes into the game before Gagnon hit a three and a jumper to tie it up at nine-all with 6:13 to go in the quarter. The Scots and Hawks were knotted up again at the 4:13 mark thanks to a Foley layup (13-13). RWU tallied six straight points to close it out and go up 21-14 heading into the second.
- Serianna Anderson made her presence known in the early minutes of the second as the freshman hit a pair of three-pointers to make it a three-point game. However, the Hawks held the Scots scoreless in the closing minutes of the quarter, stretching their lead to 11 at the break.
- In the second half, RWU kept the Scots at bay and eventually took the 68-40 win over Gordon.

- After a two game road trip, the Scots return to the Bennett Center on Wednesday, January 15 to host Wentworth at 5:30 p.m.
- Sarah Gibbs had a season-high four steals on the day.
