Gordon College Men's and Women's Track and Field began their 2020 campaign by traveling to Brunswick, Maine to compete at the Bowdoin Invitational today.
Joseph Tibbles and Alex Ferris raced their way to third and fourth place in the 60m dash with times of 7.67 and 7.77, respectively. Showing his speed once again, Tibbles' 24.50 time was good enough for an eighth place finish for the freshman in the 200m dash. The quad of Josh Crowder, Tibbles,
Chase Silvia, and
Cameron Abbot teamed up to finish fourth in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:48.36.
Moving to the field side of events, Silvia highlighted the day for the Fighting Scots as the junior booked a new Gordon College indoor record in the high jump. Silvia's 1.9m also qualified him for the Indoor New England Championships which will be held next weekend.
Steven French came in fifth place in the shot put, throwing a distance of 12.54m.
In the 400m dash,
Amanda Page edged out a trio of fellow Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athletes from Endicott College with a time of 1:06.36.
Emma Shearer earned a time of 2:34:08, crossing the finish line in eighth place. The Gordon 4x400m relay team of
Abigail Baier,
Rachael Farah, Page, and Shearer secured a second place finish with their 4:30.58 time.
Silvia is back at it next weekend at the Indoor New England Championships while the rest of the Fighting Scot crew are off until March 21 as they compete at the Wesleyan Spring Classic.
