Box Score 2 On Day Two of the PFX Spring Games, Gordon College Softball played in Minneola, Florida against Washington College (Md.) and DeSales University. In the first game, The Shorewomen stole the 5-2 victory from the Scots. In the second game, the Bulldogs offense came alive to beat out the Scots 11-0.
Game One
- The Shorewomen struck first in the bottom of the first when Megan Robbins (So./Denton, Md.) singled up the middle to bring Leah Stokes (Sr./Chandler, Ariz.) home and give them the early 1-0 nod. In the opening two innings, Shorewomen pitcher Rachel Butler (Sr./York, Pa.), struck out three of the six batters faced to keep the Scots off the board. In the bottom of the second the Shorewomen tacked on two more runs to extend the lead to 3-0.
- Scots' freshman, Mara Little, ripped a line drive down the right field line to break up the strong defensive showing by Butler but Little was stranded to end the inning. The Shorewomen used the bottom half of the inning to build on their lead with two runs crossing the plate before Laura Bieren stopped the bleeding by snatching a diving catch to end the inning with the bases loaded, leaving the score at 5-0 going into the fourth.
- The Scots put their rally caps on to start the sixth inning when Lily Rivera hit a single to left center before Arianna Ramsaran sent one out of the park to give the Scots two runs on the board. But it would be too little too late as 5-2 would be the eventual final score of the game in favor of the Shorewomen.
Game Two
- The Bulldogs jumped out to a quick 2-0 in the opening inning after a two RBI double from Alexa Marasheski (Sr./Philadelphia, Pa.). In the second, the Bulldogs capitalized on a fielding error by the Scots to bring another runner home and extend their lead to three.
- Shortstop Ramsaran shut down any further scoring opportunities as the junior snagged a liner and threw it to first for the inning ending double play to close out the top of the third. The Scots started to make some noise in the bottom of the inning as Hatchell and Bieren strung together back-to-back hits but the Bulldogs buckled down to keep the Scots off the board.
- The Bulldogs had a strong fourth inning scoring, eight runs to push the score to 11-0 which would be enough to secure a mercy rule victory in the fifth.
