Hitting the courts for the second straight day, Gordon College Women's Tennis welcomed the Endicott College Gulls at the Brigham Athletic Complex this afternoon. The Fighting Scots battled, but were ultimately defeated by the visitors, 6-3. With the loss, the Scots drop to 4-2 on the season and 3-2 in conference play while the Gulls improve to 6-2 over and 5-1 in league action.
In doubles action, Endicott swept No. 3 doubles 8-0 before grabbing another victory on the second court 8-5 to go up 2-0. In a back and forth boxing match on court one, Gordon's top doubles duo,
Jordyn Maddex and
Annette Kim, won the extended match-up, 8-7 (7-5) to give Gordon its first point of the day.
Endicott snagged the first victory in singles but Gordon's Kristen Kendall got the best of her opponent in No.4 singles to keep pace with the Gulls. Gordon and Endicott traded the next two wins with the Gulls taking a victory at No. 2 singles, meanwhile
Madison West picked up the win against her counterpart in the No. 3 slot. Needing just one more tally to clinch the day, Endicott's No. 5 singles topped
Abbigail Fournier to seal the deal for the Gulls and take the eventual 6-3 win.
Next up for the Fighting Scots is a NEWITT this weekend hosted by Smith and Mount Holyoke.
