SARATOGA, N.Y. – College crews flocked to Fish Creek over Halloween weekend for one of the largest Head of the Fish regattas on record. In an attempt to make up for lost racing due to Covid (and the cancellation of other events), several powerhouse programs made a rare appearance at the starting line of the second largest head race in the northeast (second to Head of the Charles). The field for the collegiate women's 2x was no exception, with unprecedented depth and a wide range of competition, featuring heavy hitters like Tufts, Marist, and Middlebury. After a season in the IRA, however, the Gordon lights exceeded expectations, and the A boat of
Lucia Hopkins '24 and
Naomi Tripp '21 beat out Tufts to take gold—the first ever Fish win for the Gordon Lights! This collegiate win comes after a win at CRI Fall Classic in the open double that launched Hopkins and Tripp off on an undefeated season in the double this fall.Â
