SCOTS WIN! Scots Defeat Roger Williams In CCC Championship

Box Score Hosting the No. 6 Roger Williams Hawks at the Brigham Athletic Complex this evening, Gordon College Women's Soccer hoisted the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) trophy after a 1-0 victory.

How It Happened
  • From the opening whistle, the Fighting Scots were laser focused, taking their shots to immediately put the RWU defense on edge. After outshooting the visitors, 8-3, Gordon's Allie LarueĀ booted a beautifully placed cross right in front of the net where Shelby Jones knocked it in with just 14 seconds left until the half.
  • The Scots continued to dominate offensively, rattling off four shots and two corners within the first 13 minutes of the second half.
  • In the 60th minute, Roger Williams nearly locked it up but hit the cross bar but again tried to fire one past Gordon's Tori Paine but was denied thanks to Paine's heads up play.
  • Gordon was able to keep the Hawks off the board throughout the second half as well as putting continued havoc on RWU's defense. When the final whistle blew the Scots rushed onto the field and ran away with the CCC Trophy after securing the 1-0 victory.
Beyond The Box Score
  • The Scots bring home their first CCC Title since 1998.
  • Shelby Jones' game-winning goal marks the third straight playoff game where Jones has registered a goal.
  • Said Head Coach Chuck Breton: "I couldn't be more proud of these players and Coach Danny and Coach Katie and the incredible work they put in this year. They truly earned this with their unwavering Ā commitment to pursuing excellence. We played one of our best games at the most important time verse an extremely good Roger Williams team. We look forward to representing the CCC in the NCAA tournament and hopefully making them proud."
