Brennan, Gibb Smash Records At BU's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener

Traveling to Boston, Massachusetts today, Gordon College Track and Field competed in the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener to commence their indoor track and field season. The Fighting Scots competed against the Region's top competitors, while breaking many school records during today's races.

Freshman Hannah Gibb made a statement today in her first meet as a Scot when she finished the 200 meter race in 26.69, breaking Corrine Previte's (current assistant coach) record of 26.78. With the history-making finish, Gibb placed first in her finals section seven and 18th overall out of 42 athletes.

Likewise, Cross Country star Rachel Brennan continued to shine, breaking another school indoor record in the one mile competition. Brennan recorded a time of 5:15.94, crushing the previous record of 5:26.50 which was held by Leanne Beedle since January of 2014. Brennan's swift pace earned the rookie 14th place overall at the prestigious meet, right behind top runners in the New England area such as Boston College, Merrimack College, Rhode Island College, and Williams University.

Meanwhile Abigail Wirling and Kewana Gooden did their part in the shot put event, launching a distance of 9.01m and 8.56m, earning 15th and 18th place, respectively.

Additionally, Carolyn Day recorded a time of 11:42.93 in the women's 3000 meter event, placing 53rd.

This marks the lone indoor meet for the blue and white as the Scots officially start their track season this spring.
