The Gordon College Women's Basketball team hosted the Endicott College Gulls tonight for their last game of the 2021 season. After trailing by 16 before the fourth quarter, the Scots rallied back to win 53-51.

For Endicott, Morgan Bresnahan had 11 points, with Emily St. Thomas and Shannon Gilbert following close behind with 10 each. Bresnahan and Olivia Duncan each grabbed nine rebounds.

Senior Abby Vampatella capped off her career with a double double, putting 17 on the board and bringing down 12 rebounds. Caleigh Williams secured a game and career high 17 rebounds. Freshmen Caroline Sikkink and Cara Andreotti rounded out the team effort with 12 and 13 points, respectively.

How It Happened

• The Scots started off strong with a 7-2 run in the first three and a half minutes, but the Gulls responded with a seven point run of their own.
• With 2:44 left in the first quarter, Vampatella tied it up with a put-back after her offensive rebound.
• Sikkink's layup was the last field goal in the quarter, securing a two point lead for Gordon.
• Halfway through the second, Williams tied it up after the Gulls went up again. Endicott then left Gordon scoreless for the remainder of the quarter, taking a 17 point lead going into halftime.
• The third quarter was a back and forth scoring frenzy, which still left the Scots down by 16 before the last ten minutes of the game.
• Andreotti initiated Gordon's comeback with a pair of points within the first minute.
• With six minutes left, Gordon went on a 13-0 run to  cut the lead to a single digit, but Endicott answered with a layup from Gilbert.
• Serianna Anderson quickly responded with a three pointer, and Williams' steal on the defensive end led to a jumper from Vampatella that brought the Scots within four.
• The Gulls fought back with a layup from St. Thomas, leaving a six point margin with just under two minutes left.
• An offensive rebound and layup for Williams cut it to four while Sikkink drained another two to make it a one-possession game with 00:20 on the clock.
• Andreotti drew two fouls and drained all four free throws in a span of 10 seconds to put the Scots up by two, and a defensive stop on the other end secured the win to complete the 2021 season.

• The Gordon College Women's Basketball team finishes the 2021 season off 7-5, and graduates seniors Megan Hasty and Abby Vampatella.
• Megan Hasty finishes off her career with totals of 91 points and 43 assists.
• Abby Vampatella graduates with 412 career points and 207 rebounds.
• The series sweep of the Gulls marks the first time Gordon went 2-0 against Endicott in a season.

• Said Head Coach Carter Shaw: "This was an exciting win for our players and for our team.  Just an unbelievable comeback from such a demoralizing second quarter.  But our players were resilient coming out of halftime and stayed composed and together.  And then they played an incredibly gritty fourth quarter, getting stops and making plays and hitting shots. Cara's hit four huge FT's down the stretch and Caleigh and Caroline both made incredible plays and pulled down some huge rebounds. Seri hit a clutch 3 as we were making our run and Abby is just such a special player. We're going to miss her grit and leadership and consistency. I love how this team never gave up and kept working hard even when it didn't seem possible.  This was an amazing comeback and a spectacular ending."
