Scots Continue To Smash Records At Gordon Invite

Hosting the Gordon Invitational today at the Brigham Athletic Complex, Gordon College Women's Track & Field competed against Nichols, Salve Regina, Roger Williams, and Suffolk.

Highlights
  • Abigail Baier picked up right where she left off last week as the junior steamrolled past the competition to a first place finish in the 800m (2:24.97).
  • In the 1500m, Baier again was the top finisher, earning a time of 4:58.97 with the second place runner coming in 20 seconds behind her.
  • Rachel Brennan dominated the 5000m race with a time of 18:49.75 to beat her closest opponent by just over 25 seconds. 
  • Emma Shearer completed the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:10.25 to again take the top spot for the Scots. 
  • Amanda Page, Delaney McDonnell, Liz Richardson, and Rachael Farah's time of 53.75 was good enough to best Suffolk's and Salve Regina's relay teams in the 4x100m.
  • Page, Farah, Shearer, and Baier breezed through the competition in the 4x400m relay, crossing the line at 4:20.79.
  • Baier continued to show well at the Brigham Athletic Complex, with her third win of the day in the long jump with a distance of 4.95m.
Abigail Baier broke the Gordon Women's Track & Field record in the 1500m. The previous record was set by Angela Crowell in 1999 which was before Baier was even born.
Rachel Brennan also broke another record in the 5000m with a time of 18:49.75. The previous record was set in 2010.

Next up for the Scots is the Suffolk Invitational a week from today.
