Bats Get Hot In Split With Bison

Gordon College Softball traveled to Dudley, Massachusetts this afternoon for a non-conference doubleheader against the Nichols College Bison. The Bison edged the Fighting Scots in game one before Gordon dominated the second game to win 12-4.

Game One
  • Laura Bieren and Alyssa Ouellette went after it in the circle for their teams, keeping it scoreless for the first two innings.
  • A pair of Bison doubles in the bottom half of the third propelled the home team to take a 3-0 lead. Nichols later added three more to hold a 6-0 cushion heading into the the top of the seventh.
  • The Fighting Scots lived up to their moniker to bring four across in their last at bats, but the Bison proved stubborn enough to hold their ground and defend the two-run victory.
Game Two
  • The blue and white were hungry to score first as Ramsaran continued her streak with another homerun to deep center to give the Scots a 3-0 lead in the first.
  • Each side scored twice in the second inning as the Scots maintained their three-run advantage.
  • With two ducks on the pond and fresh off a pitching change, Bieren welcomed the new hurler by launching a three-run homerun over the left field fence to widen the gap to 8-3. A Gabby Hunt single to center field brought around Kristen Brown and Emma Dubois to make it a eight-run game.
  • The Bison tried to chip away in the bottom of the fourth, scoring two more to lessen the deficit to six.
  • Continuing to stay on fire, Ramsaran hit a sacrifice fly to deep to right field to bring Rivera home. Bieren then wanting to finish the game off in five innings, hit her second dinger of the afternoon to go up by eight. Gordon maintained the eight-run lead to return home early after holding off Nichols from crossing the plate again to take the 12-4 W.

Beyond The Box Score
  • The Fighting Scots welcome the Bison tomorrow in Wenham for a 12 p.m. DH start tomorrow.
