Gordon Earns A Program-High Second Place In CCC Championship

The Gordon College Women's Track & Field Team finished second in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship today in Portsmouth, Rhode Island which was hosted by Roger Williams. The Fighting Scots earned a team score of 131.50 which was only 16 points behind league champion RWU. In total, the women broke six school records today alone.

Highlights
  • Abigail Baier took the top spot in the 800m with a time of 2:27.29. In the 1500m, Baier again was the lead runner, crossing the line at the 5:02.46 mark. Carrying over her first place finishes into field competitions, Baier set a meet record in the long jump at 5.06m. In the triple jump, Baier traveled 10.67m which again landed her in first place.
  • Rachel Brennan completed the 5000m run in an impressive 19:38.73, which was just under 30 seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Brennan  dominated the 3000m in only 10:45.32. The freshman's time was not only a meet record but also a Gordon record.
  • Emma Shearer re-broke her record set on April 17 and blew past the competition in the 400m H at 1:08.43.
  • Amanda Page had her best showing of her career in pole vault, with 2.75m which smashed a 13 year old Gordon record. 
  • Kewana Gooden wrote her name in the Gordon record books in the shot put with a throw of 9.95m which again broke a 13 year old record. 
  • The Scots' 4x100m relay team of Amanda Page, Delaney McDonnell, Liz Richardson, and Rachael Farah posted a second place finish with a time of 52.90.
  • Capping off relays was Page, Olivia Gregory, Shearer, and Baier who recorded a time of 4:15.32 in the 4x400m relay which put them in first place.
