Lancers Knock Off Scots, 2-0

Box Score Venturing to Worcester, Massachusetts this evening, the Gordon College Women's Soccer team faced the Lancers of Worcester State University (WSU) for their third non-conference match this season. The Lancers defended their home turf to defeat the Scots, 2-0 after the 90 minute duel.

How It Happened
  • In the 28th minute, WSU's Haley Mignon nearly put her team on the board first but was denied by Gordon defender McKenna Feller who slid and kicked the ball off the goal line to keep it a 0-0 game. WSU's Mignon found the back of the net in the 38th minute to give the Lancers the 1-0 lead heading into the half.
  • Megan Gurlitz connected on another penalty kick for the home team to make it 2-0 and secure the eventual victory. The Fighting Scots countered with a powerful shot on goal from Shelby Jones just minutes later, but was not able to place it past WSU's keeper. The Lancers continued to fend off the Scots' offensive strategies, shutting out the blue and white, 2-0
