Box Score Patiently waiting through two cancellations that delayed the Fighting Scots' season-opener by exactly two weeks, Gordon College Women's Tennis took the court at the Brigham Athletic Complex to host the reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Runners-Up Nichols College this afternoon. With already two matches under their belt, the Bison took control of the match to shutout the Scots, 9-0.
The No. 3 Bison doubles team was on a mission, quickly taking the 8-0 victory over the Scots. On the next doubles court,
Kristin Kendall and
Madison West battled against Nichols' No. 1 singles player
Antonia Carrero and teammate
Kelly Carlin in No. 2 doubles, but were overpowered by the visitors, 8-2. Wrapping up doubles competitions were Gordon's
Jordyn Maddex and
Annette Kim who were bested by their counterparts at the No. 1 position, 8-3.Â
Needing just two more points to secure the victory, Nichols collected a win in No. 6 singles before clinching the match thanks to a 6-3, 6-1 finish from
Jordan Knowles at the No. 5 slot.
The Fighting Scots look to bounce back on Saturday, September 18 as they host the Seahawks of Salve Regina at 12 p.m.
