Traveling to Biddeford, Maine this afternoon, Gordon College Women's Soccer battled against the Nor'easters of the University of New England (UNE) for 96 hard-fought minutes before the Fighting Scots ultimately fell to their hosts, 0-1. Gordon's conference record evens out to 1-1 after the conclusion of this evening's match up. <br /> <br /> <strong>How It Happened</strong> <ul> <li>From the start, both squads were evenly matched with control going back and forth. The Scots and Nor'easters traded shots throughout the first half, both recording three, but neither side was able to find the back of the net. </li> <li>The Scots returned to the field in the second half craving the first goal, firing off four shots before the tenth minute, but the Nor'easters' defense held strong, thwarting away all the Scots' attempts. Gordon continued to control the half and stopped UNE from getting a single shot in while booking seven of their own. </li> <li>The game was scoreless at the conclusion of regulation time, forcing another break before overtime. Just over five minutes into overtime, UNE's <a href="https://athletics.une.edu/sports/womens-soccer/roster">Maddie Scammell</a> booted the golden goal in the upper left corner to take the 1-0 victory.</li> </ul> <strong>Beyond The Box Score</strong> <ul> <li>The Scots are back in action on Wednesday, September 29 when they invite the Salem State Vikings to their home turf with a 7 p.m. start. </li> </ul>
