Box Score Kicking off their season traveling to Henniker, New Hampshire, Gordon College Women's Soccer squared up against the New England College Pilgrims in their first competition of the season. After coming out aggressive and scoring first, the Fighting Scots were able to hold their lead for the remainder of the game eventually sealing their first win 1-0.
How It Happened
- Both Gordon and New England attempted to net the first goal, with shots going back and forth. Things changed when junior Calla Ashley was faced with a defender with the goal in sight. Ashley tip-toed her way around the Pilgrim getting a foot on the ball and launching it past the Pilgrims' keeper from the corner of the box, bringing the Scots to an early lead 1-0.
- The Scots didn't let up as they fought to lengthen their lead throughout the entirety of the game, collecting a total of 19 shots total. Ashley's hot foot led the pack with seven powerhouse kicks followed by teammate Kendra Wentling who added three to the sum.
- With tight defense Gordon held the Pilgrims to a shutout, ultimately pulling out the 1-0 win.

- Gordon College Women's Soccer has shut out the Pilgrims for three years in a row (2019: 3-0, 2020: 2-0, 2021: 1-0).
- The Fighting Scots will greet Eastern Nazarene College on Saturday, September 11 for their home-opener with the first whistle sounding at 4 p.m.
