Scots Open Up 2022 At Husson

MEET RESULTS

The Gordon College Women's Swim team traveled to Bangor, Maine today for a meet against the Husson University Eagles where the Eagles defeated the Fighting Scots, 172-94.

Kicking off the meet this morning, Gordon's 200 yard medley relay comprised of Lily Brooks, Olivia Rose, Carley Ross, and Janelle Maxwell finished in third place with a time of 2:12.37, just five seconds behind the top finishers. Newcomer, Grace Haxhinasto was the second swimmer to hit the wall in the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 13:12.05 which put her a full 20 seconds ahead of the next swimmer. Captain Olivia Rose controlled the 50 yard breaststroke as the senior crashed into the wall at the 36.08 mark to win her first top-place finish of the afternoon. Orchestrating the two-three punch were Ross and Gina Ouellette in the 200 yard butterfly, posting a 2:49.84 and 2:58.62 finish, respectively in the eleventh event of the day. In the 50 yard freestyle, Maxwell nearly took the top spot, finishing in second place with a time of 28.16. Haxhinasto swam her way to another solid finish, as the freshman came in third place in the 100 yard freestyle thanks to a 1:06.70 time. In a neck and neck race, Rose finished just one second out of first place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:20.37). Claiming the top three spots in the 50 yard butterfly were Maxwell (32.14), Ouellette (32.74), and Ross (33.62) to dominate down the stretch. In similar fashion, Rose, Lily Brooks, and Ouellette cleaned up in the 100 yard IM with times of 1:12.36, 1:19.44, and 1:22.50 to sweep the top three spots. Wrapping up the day for the Scots were Haxhinasto, Charlotte Cummings, Lillyan DeFeo, and Ouellette who came in second place in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 2:06.64.

The Fighting Scots return to action a week from today on Saturday, January 15 as they travel to Saint Joseph's (Maine) for a tri-meet against the Monks as well as Husson at 12 p.m.
