Gordon College Women's Tennis had a quick turnaround as they hosted the Curry College Colonels this evening where the Fighting Scots marched past their guests, 6-3.
The Scots started off strong, securing the first two doubles matches thanks to an 8-5 score from
Annette Kim and her partner
Caroline Helmer before
Abbigail Fournier and Hannnah Hovda locked in another point for the Scots after fighting for the 8-7 win after winning the tie-breaker (7-2). However, the Colonels were able to grab their first point of the afternoon in the final doubles match (8-5).
Curry carried their momentum over to singles as they were the first to finish on court No. 6, tying it up 2-2. But the Scots quickly regained their edge when Helmer overpowered her opponent, 6-1, 6-0 on court No. 3 for her first collegiate win of her career. Next, Kim kept her win streak going with a 6-1, 6-4 victory moments before Hovda sealed the overall win for the Scots after flying over her opponent, 6-3, 6-4.
With the win, the Fighting Scots earned their way into the first round of the CCC Playoffs which will take place on Tuesday, October 18.
