Men's Cross Country Finishes Fourth At CCC Championship Race

Gordon College Men's Cross Country traveled to Biddeford, Maine this morning for the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship race hosted by the New England Nor'easters where the Fighting Scots competed against the eight other CCC teams at Rotary Park. Overall, the Scots booked a fourth place finish with a score of 108 while Roger Williams took the top spot with 42 points, followed by Suffolk (82), and Endicott (85), meanwhile, Gordon ran ahead of the hosts (124), Wentworth (151), Nichols (157), Western New England (194), and Salve Regina (254). 

Zachary Smith led the Scots with a top-ten finish as the junior completed the 8k in 26:49.0 to record a sixth place finish. Coming just behind Smith was Colin McGinn who crossed the finish in 26:56.5 to earn an eighth place finish. Meanwhile, Philip Kay was the next Scot to cross the finish at 28:20.2 to come in 28th place followed by Stephen Kaelin who earned the 38th spot after a time of 28:49.8. The last of Gordon's top five runners to complete the challenging course was Wesley Marquardt who ran the race in 29:09.8 to earn a spot in the top-50 as the 44th runner to finish. 

Additionally, Smith and McGinn earned a spot on the All-CCC Team after finishing in the top 15. The Fighting Scots also were recognized for their sportsmanship with the CCC Sportsmanship award.
