CCC RELEASE
Gordon College Cross Country's
Rachel Brennan has been awarded the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Runner of the Week accolade for her jaw-dropping performance this past weekend at the Keene State Invitational in New Hampshire. Brennan helped pace the Fighting Scots to a sixth place finish after a combined team score of 145, just behind CCC rivals, Endicott College (133). This marks the third week that the top-tier distance runner has been garnered with this award (
week 1,
week 3).Â
The speedy senior shined at the Invitational this past Saturday, running the 5k course in a personal best time of 18:16.4, earning the top spot past 137 opponents. Brennan's lightening finish was a whole 35 seconds quicker than her previous record (18:51) which she set in 2021, keeping her seat comfortable as the second ranked runner at Gordon in the 5k event. Her time was a mere three seconds behind the fastest 5k time in Gordon history held by Ember Brosius since 2000 (18:13).Â
Brennan and the rest of the Fighting Scots return to the races again on Saturday, October 15 when they travel into Boston for the Suffolk Invitational at 1:45 p.m.
