Scots Sink Anchorwomen, Fall To Golden Bears In Tri-Meet

MEET RESULTS 

After a change of locations, the Gordon College Women's Swim Team traveled to Springfield, Massachusetts for a tri-meet against their host Western New England (WNE) as well as Rhode Island College (RIC). The Fighting Scots defeated RIC, 151-81 before falling to WNE, 156-95.

In the 1000 freestyle, Katherine Maloney sprinted out of the gates en route to a first place finish thanks to completing the event in just 12:16.51. Mia Frazer got in on the action as the rookie swam the 200 yard freestyle in 2:22.02 to claim third place. Then in the 50 yard backstroke, Lily Brooks booked the top spot after a speedy time of 33.81. Ella Schissler and Lily Brooks made it a three-four punch in the 50 yard breaststroke after finishing at the 40.32 and 32.43 mark, respectively. Making her first debut of the winter, Gina Ouellette came in third in the 100 butterfly after hitting the wall at 1:19.12. Senior Janelle Maxwell was the third swimmer to finish in the 50 freestyle thanks to a time of 31.49. Frazier secured her best finish of the afternoon after coming in second place in the 100 yard backstroke thanks to her time of 1:07.15. Schissler and Brooks once again came in third and fourth, respectively, this  time in the 100 yard breast stroke (1:28.05, 1:31.57). In another long distance event, Maloney took the crown in the 500 yard freestyle after coming into the finish with a time of 5:56.90. Maxwell later came in second in the 50 yard butterfly (32.71). Finishing off the afternoon was Maloney who completed the 200 yard IM in 2:34.10 for a second place finish.

Next up for the Scots is another road meet set for next Saturday, November 19 against Albertus Magnus at 12 p.m.
