After an amazing race this past weekend at the NCAA DIII All-New England Championships, Gordon College Women's Cross Country's Rachel Brennan punched her ticket to Michigan for the Division III Cross Country National Championship where the junior will compete against the Nation's fastest runners. 

Brennan, the reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Runner of the Year, is the second women's cross country runner in Gordon College history to qualify for the National Championship, the first since Hall of Honor inductee Ember Brosius accomplished the feat in 2000. This marks the first time a CCC women's runner has qualified since 2013.

At the DIII New England Championships, Brennan was the first CCC runner to cross the finish line landing a top-10 finish (10th) out of 243 opponents as the junior recorded a personal-best time of 22:44.9 to earn All-Region status as well as a trip to the NCAA DIII National Championship this coming weekend, Saturday, November 19.

The junior standout was one of seventy student-athletes to earn an individual entry into this year's championship. Individuals were selected from the remaining runners after the 32 team participants were chosen. Ten of those teams received automatic qualifiers by winning one of the ten NCAA Regional competitions. The other 22 teams received at-large berths as assigned by the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track and Field and Cross Country Committee.

Once those teams were selected, the first seven student-athletes in each regional who were not part of a qualifying team were granted individual berths.

The big race will be held at Forest Akers East Golf Course at Michigan State University in Lansing, Michigan with the women's race starting at 11 a.m.
