Gordon College Men's Track and Field opened up their indoor season today as they traveled to Boston University for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational where the Fighting Scots competed against New England's top Division I institutions along with breaking a handful of records along the way.
For the field events,
Daniel Erikson started off the day for the Scots with a top-five finish in the 60m hurdles, securing fifth place with a record-breaking time of 9.02.
Meanwhile, in the one mile run
Colin McGinn led the three Scots represented as the junior crossed the finish at 4:45.09 to book 32nd place while
Zachary Smith and
Stephen Kaelin followed shortly after with times of 4:58.80 and 5:02.31, respectively, for 42nd and 43rd place.
Joshua Backert earned the Scots' second fifth place finish of the day in the 400m race after completing the event in 50.36 to etch his name in the Gordon College record books. In the next event, Backert continued to rewrite the books as the junior finished 12th with a new record time of 23.16 in the 200m dash, followed by
Matthew McCluski (23.69) and
Joseph Tibbles (24.30) who came in 19th and 26th.
