How It Happened
- The always reliable Wynbeek netted the first points of the game to put the Scots up, 2-0 less than a minute into the first quarter. However, the Hawks went to work, outscoring the Scots 19-4 to hold a 19-6 lead heading into the second frame.
- Gordon came out strong in the second as sophomore Kate Howe sank a shot from behind the arc and Wynbeek converted the bruise and the bucket to cut the deficit to just nine points with 8:15 remaining in the half. Soon after, the No. 1 Hawks began to rebuild their lead to go on top by 22 at the break.
- For the third straight quarter, Gordon drew first blood with Wynbeek sinking two from that charity stripe to cut the Hawks'Â lead in half at the 8:42 mark. Anderson, I. Rivera and Wynbeek took control of the frame, outscoring their hosts, 17-14 heading into the final 10 minutes of regulation.Â
- Opening up the fourth, the Hawks finally broke the Scots' streak of scoring the first bucket, netting the first 10 points before the Scots answered back with seven straight points of their own to bring the score to 66-42 in favor of RWU with 4:06 left in the fourth. Despite battling down the stretch, the Fighting Scots fell to the top seeded Hawks by 23 points to conclude their 2021-22 campaign.
