Gordon College Men's Track and Field brought four student-athletes to compete at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational at Boston University today. The Fighting Scots were among 1,300 entrants including over 50 programs with competitors from NCAA Division I, II, and III.
Joshua Backert continued to rewrite the Gordon College Men's Track and Field history books as the sophomore standout demolished the previous 500m indoor record that was set in 2014 by Asher Gray after crossing the finish line with a time of 1:05.79 for 15th place. Backert was one of just two DIII student-athletes to run in the event (MIT).
In the 60m dash,
Joseph Tibbles and
Henry Lonstein finished with times of 7.54 and 7.63, respectively. Tibbles and Lonstein crossed the finish line just ahead of Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athlete Matthew Mitchell of Suffolk.
Current high jump record holder,
Chase Silvia made his 2022 debut at 1.76m.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday, February 19 at the Bowdoin Invitational.
