Rose Picks Up Two First Place Finishes As Scots Fall To Warriors And Bears

MEET RESULTS

Gordon College Women's Swimming traveled to Eastern Connecticut State University to square off against the Warriors of ECSU and the Bears of Bridgewater State University (BSU). The Fighting Scots fell to ECSU, 62-194 and 85-170 by way of BSU.

In the first event of the day, Carley Ross, Olivia Rose, Janelle Maxwell, and Grace Haxhinasto orchestrated a fourth place finish in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:10.36. Heading into the individual events, Lily Brooks was the fourth swimmer to hit the wall in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 35.54. In the ninth event of the day (50 yard breaststroke), Rose sailed into the wall in just 35.30 seconds for her first of two top place finishes. Shortly after, Gina Ouellette earned herself a fourth place finish in the 100 yard butterfly, completing the race in 1:14.62. Posting the Scots' second best finish of the afternoon, Haxhinasto recorded a time of 1:01.36 in the 100 yard freestyle for second place. Then, adding another feather to her cap, Rose clinched another first place finish in the 100 yard breaststroke as the captain cruised past the competition with a time of 1:17.22– a full four seconds ahead of the second place finisher. Continuing to build upon an impressive rookie campaign, Haxhinasto added to the Scots' points after hitting the wall at 6:01.95 in the 500 yard freestyle which lifted her to a third place finish. The underclassmen continued to shine and in her second fourth place finish on the afternoon, Ouellette swam the 50 yard butterfly in 31.34 seconds. Finally, wrapping up the top spots was again Rose who booked a third place finish in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:35.44.

The Fighting Scots return to the Bennett Center on Saturday, February 12 to celebrate Senior Day against Saint Joseph's at 12 p.m.
