Four student-athletes represented the Gordon College Women's Track and Field team at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational at Boston University today. The Fighting Scots were among 1,300 entrants including over 50 programs with competitors from NCAA Division I, II, and III.
In her indoor track debut, freshman
Amaris Goodwin etched her name in the Gordon College Women's Indoor Track Record Books after cross the finish of the 60m with a time of 8.46, breaking a long-standing record that was previously held by Damilola Junaid since 2013.
Picking up where she left off, rookie
Hannah Gibb broke the 200m record for the second time in two months with a new and improved time of 26.54. Gibb recently broke the record on December 4 with a time of 26.69 at BU's Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener. Additionally, Gibb's time of 26.54 qualified the freshman for the NCAA DIII New England Indoor Championship where she will compete on Friday, February 25.
Racing as one of the handful of DIII student-athletes,
Rachel Brennan completed the mile in 5:18.2 for a 55th place finish out of 83 runners. Additionally,
Abigail Baier who was also up against many DI competitors, came in 38th place with a time of 2:29.22 in the 800m.
The Fighting Scots return to action on Saturday, February 19 at the Bowdoin Invitational.
