MEET RESULTS
Gordon College Women's Track and Field hit the road for their first outdoor meet of the year down to Middletown, Connecticut for the Wesleyan Spring Classic. A handful of events were unable to be completed due to lightning that shortened the meet.
For the field events,
Abigail Baier booked herself a top-10 finish as the senior came in ninth place in the long jump with a distance of 4.80m. Captain
Abigail Wirling launched the shot put 10.59m to smash the previous record of 9.95m set just a season ago by teammate
Kewana Gooden at the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship meet. Wirling took fourth place behind two teammates from New Haven as well as CCC rival
Nicole D'Angelo from Endicott. The captain again scored herself another top-10 finish in discus which unfortunately was not completed due to weather, however, Wirling recorded a distance of 30.30m. In the hammer throw, Wirling and teammate
Hannah Hansen came in sixth and eighth place, respectively, with distances of 33.46m and 31.23m.
Long distance specialist,
Rachel Brennan continued to make a name for herself as the sophomore cruised to a fourth place finish in the 1500m run and on the way broke teammates Baier's record by .57. Rookie
Wren Worth celebrated her debut this afternoon by coming in 10
th in the 100m hurdles with a time of 18.06 which put her ahead of two Endicott Gulls who came in 11
th and 12
th place. It was a photo finish in the 800m as Baier's time of 2:28.96 (seventh place) was just .02 behind the sixth place finisher from Smith College.
The Fighting Scots compete again a week from today on Saturday, April 2 at the Tufts Invitational.
