MEET RESULTS
Gordon College Men's Track & Field headed into Cambridge today for the Sean Collier Invitational hosted by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In addition to DIII institutions, a handful of DI and DII schools competed.
In the 1500m,
Jacob Smith came in 12
th place (seventh place in DIII) with a season-low time of 4:06.99.
Daniel Erikson and
Chase Silvia scored a top-10 finish in the 110m hurdles after earning times of 17.03 (eighth place)Â and 17.69 (10
th place), respectively.
Alexander Ferris came barreling into the 400m at the 1:00.43 mark which was just behind a trio from Amherst while Silvia finished ninth (1:02.69). Coming in fourth place among his DIII opponents,
Colin McGinn wrapped up the steeple chase in a season-best 10.52.69 while teammate
Wesley Marquardt came in sixth with a time of 11:21.17. In pure domination, the Fighting Scots' 4x400m steamrolled through the competition (including DII Franklin Pierce) for a first place finish and into the Gordon record books as J. Smith,
Joseph Tibbles, Ferris, and
Joshua Backert completed the relay in 3:23.16.
Silvia recorded his best jump of the season with a mark of 1.86m in the high jump which put him in second place in DIIIÂ and fourth among Harvard and Franklin Pierce. Coming in ninth and tenth in DIII, Tibbles and
Elisha Boamah recorded long jumps of 5.42m and 5.25m, respectively.
Steven French's shot put launch earned the senior an eighth place finish (DIII) after traveling a distance of 12.03m. Silvia booked another top-10 finish and season-best in the javelin (DIII) with a throw of 37.23m.
The Fighting Scots return to the Brigham Athletic Complex a week from today on Saturday, April 30 to host the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship.
