Scots Face Stiff Competition At MIT's Sean Collier Invitational

MEET RESULTS

Traveling into Cambridge, Massachusetts today, Gordon College Women's Track & Field Team competed against DI, DII, and their DIII competitors at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's Sean Collier Invitational.

Senior Delaney McDonnell came in eight place (DIII) in the 100m dash after speeding through with a season-best time of 13.70. Doubling that up in the 200m, Amaris Goodwin had an impressive finish, crossing the finish just behind a student-athlete from Boston University (BU) at the 26.39 mark (second place DIII), beating her previous best time by .24. Following that performance up, Goodwin earned herself a sixth place finish after locking in her third season-best time today after completing the 400m in 1:00.67. Long distance specialist, Rachel Brennan secured a second place finish in the 1500m run after crossing the finish line with a time of 4:54.37, putting her two seconds ahead of a BU runner. Coming in seventh in the 400m hurdles, Emma Shearer recorded a season best 1:10.24, crushing her previous best of 1:11.28. Running their way to a season best in the 4x100m relay were McDonnell, Goodwin, Allison Subat, and Wren Worth who came in third with a time of 53.84. Continuing with the plethora of season bests, the Fighting Scots' 4x400m relay of Goodwin, Shearer, Ellie Scully, and Abigail Baier took the crown after orchestrating a time of 4:16.15 for their fastest relay of the season.

Turning it over to field events, Eden Bailey came in third place (DIII) after jumping 1.48m which matched her season-high. Baier jumped her way to a second place finish after the senior hit the 10.17m mark in the triple jump which was also the best of her senior season so far. Also in the triple jump, McDonnell recorded her longest measurement of the season as the two-sport student-athlete scored an eighth place finish. Kewana Gooden came in seventh place (DIII) after a shot put launch of 10.12m which was well over her previous career best of 9.96. Abigail Wirling followed in ninth place as the senior threw the shot put 9.71m. Then in the javelin, Wirling had the fourth best throw among her DIII opponents with a mark of 30.75 which was nearly two meters longer than her season best (28.87m).

The Fighting Scots return to the Brigham Athletic Complex a week from today on Saturday, April 30 to host the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Championship.
