As announced this morning by Gordon College's Director of Athletics
Jonathan Tymann,
Bryce Bowie has been promoted to lead the men's and women's swim team as head coach after two seasons as an assistant. Additionally, Bowie, who is a certified pool and spa operator, will also assume the role of Aquatics Director for the College.
"I would like to thank Nicole Drukker (former head coach) and
Jonathan Tymann for welcoming me into the Gordon family," said Bowie. "They immediately made me feel comfortable and confident to take on this role. I am excited to build upon the work we have done the past two years and continue to improve as a program."
A former student-athlete at the NCAA Division III level, Bowie was four year letter-winner on the Keene State College Men's Swim Team where he earned a bachelor of science in secondary education and European history. During his career, Bowie qualified and raced at the New England Intercollegiate Swimming and Diving Association (NEISDA) Championships in three out of his four years, helping the Owls finish in the top-six each season and capping off his senior campaign in second place.
Upon graduating from Keene State, Bowie began his collegiate coaching tenure at Gordon College in the fall of 2020 where he assisted the head coach in all areas of the program from practice to mentorship to competitions. Despite the challenges of the 2020-21 season, Bowie continued to pour into the student-athletes in preparation for the following school year. This past February, the Gordon College Swim Team sent nine individuals to the NEISDA Championships.
In addition to his coaching duties for the Fighting Scots, Bowie also was the facility coach for the North Shore Swim Club which is based at the Bennett Center Natatorium. With the club, Bowie organized and constructed practices for swimmers of all skill levels to prepare them for competition.
"We are extremely blessed to have Bryce stay in our Fighting Scot family," said Tymann. "Bryce has immersed himself in the program and College at large over the past two years, which made it an easy decision to promote him to the head coach post. We're looking forward to all the ways in which he will carry the program forward."
Bowie is currently furthering his education at his alma mater, seeking a masters of arts in history and archives.
