Gordon College Women's Swimming celebrated
Janelle Maxwell and
Abigail Van Brunt in style this afternoon with a dominant 168-47 victory over the Albertus Magnus Falcons at the Bennett Center.
The Scots started off the festivities crushing the 400 yard medley relay with a time of 4:45.99 as the quad of
Mia Frazier,
Ella Schissler, Gina Oullette, and
Grace Haxhinasto hit the wall more than 15 seconds before their Falcon opponents. In the 200 yard freestyle, Haxhinasato and Frazier took the top two spots after finishing the event in 2:13.34 and 2:19.07, respectively, before Schissler grabbed the gold in the 100y breaststroke after hitting the wall at 1:24.32. Coming in as the first swimmer to tap the wall in the 50y freestyle was senior star Maxwell who earned a swift time of 27.90, meanwhile, Haxhinasto and Maloney earned the first and second spots in the 100y freestyle with times of 1:00.73 and 1:02.39, respectively.
The Scots then swept in the 200 yard backstroke (Frazier,
Lily Brooks) and the 200 yard breaststroke (Maxwell, Schissler) along with the 100 yard butterfly (Oullette, Maxwell) moments after Maloney (5:58.26) and Haxhinasto (5:58.65) booked first and second place with neck and neck times in the 500 yard freestyle. Lastly, Frazier closed out the single events with another gold medal-earning finish in the 100 yard individual medley with a time of 1:09.42. The Fighting Scots finally brought the hammer down in the final event with a group time of 4:23.29 in the 400 yard freestyle relay which included Maloney, Brooks, Lillyan DeFeo and
Janelle Maxwell.
The Fighting Scots look to hit the water again for the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships on Saturday, February 4.
