Scots Kick Off Season With Victory Over WNE

MEET RESULTS

Gordon College Women's Swimming began their 2023-2024 season at home today as they hosted the Western New England Golden Bears. In a thrilling matchup, the Fighting Scots defeated the Golden Bears, 119-118.

Katherine Maloney rolled through the 1000 yard freestyle with a time of 12:20.25 to take first place. Arwen Hefner was the first swimmer to touch th wall in the 50 yard breaststroke as the first year booked a time of 37.52, followed by Lily Brooks who came in second (41.09). Isabella Gadouas nearly swam her way to the top spot, coming into the finish just .03 behind WNE in teh 50 yard freestyle (28.09). Locking in another first place finish was Hefner in the 100 yard freestyle as the timer read 1:03.37. Maloney also recorded two more straight top spots in the 100 yard freestyle (1:20.17) and the 500 yard freestyle (6:11.22). Capping off the day with the 200 yard freestyle relay with M. Kay Farkas, Grace Haxhinasto, Gadouas, and Maloney came in first with 1:55.97.


The Scots travel to Keene, N.H. next weekend for a meet against the Keen University Owls and the Colby-Sawyer Chargers at 1 p.m.
