Gordon College Women's Swimming took the lanes this evening at the Bennett Center to compete against the Regis College Pride as well as the Elms College Blazers. In a highly contested meet, Regis slipped past the Fighting Scots, 99-97, but the Scots bested the Blazers of Elms, 87-84.
Continuing to claim the crown in the 1000 yard freestyle,
Katherine Maloney was the fastest swimmer by 20 seconds in the event, touching the wall at the 12:16.68 mark. In the same event,
Grace Haxhinasto secured third place (13:02.07). Rookie
M.Kay Farkas came in second place in the 200 yard freestyle, collecting a time of 2:19.22. Fellow first year
Arwen Hefner took the top spot in the 200 yard breaststroke, plowing past the field and completing the race in 2:57.81. In a speedy race,
Isabella Gadouas' time of 28.38 paced the rookie to second place in the 50 yard freestyle. Farkas added a third place finish to her belt as the rookie's time of 1:02.88 lifted her to third place in the 100 yard freestyle. For her second crown on the evening, Maloney raced through the 500 yard freestyle as the timer read 5:58.23. Hefner booked third place towards the end of the night in the 200 yard IM (2:37.45). Wrapping up the exciting evening, Gadouas, Farkas, Haxhinasto, and Maloney teamed up to take first in the 200 yard freestyle in the final event (1:52.58).Â
Next up for the Fighting Scots is another home dual meet, this time with Plymouth State and Albertus Magnus on Saturday, November 11 at the Bennett Center.Â
