MEET RESULTS
A select number of Fighting Scots on the Gordon College Women's Cross Country team who qualified for the NCAA DIII Regionals, raced against the best of the best in Hopkinton, New Hampshire today. The Fighting Scots booked an overall team score of 363 for a 12th place finish out of 40 teams (231 individuals) represented.
The unstoppable
Rachel Brennan put on the jets from the gun, blazing through the 6k in a career time of 22:03.62 to book a third place finish, coming in just behind runners from WPI and MIT. The third place finish secured All-Region honors in back-to-back season for the senior. After already qualifying for the National Championship a season ago after a 10th place finish, Brennan improved her placement and time in dominating fashion (2022 time-22:44.9).
Carolyn Day also jumped over 20 spots from last year's regionals as the junior was the 44th runner to cross the finish line as the timer read 23:22.20. Rounding out the top runners for the blue and white were
Caroline Piorkowski (24:12.63) for 81st,
Kaylee Bettez (25:30.08) for 113th place, and
Kimberly Poulos (25:51.19) who came in 126th place.
The top finishers from the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) behind Brennan came in 19th and 20th place, respectively, from the University of New England and Suffolk.
The Fighting Scots await the announcement on Sunday afternoon for an individual bid to the Nationals.
