Box Score Playing their second match in as many days, Gordon College Women's Tennis took on Johnson & Wales University (N.C.) where the Fighting Scots picked up their first victory of the spring in dominant fashion, 6-3.
Abbigail Fournier and
Kristin Kendall got the ball rolling for the Scots after an 8-1 win in No. 2 doubles for the first tally of the afternoon. Then, Gordon's No. 1 pairing of
Annette Kim and
Caroline Helmer added to the fun with an identical 8-1 score to give the blue and white a 2-1 advantage heading into singles play.
Helmer and Kim continued their winning ways in singles as Helmer defeated her counterpart, 6-2, 6-4 before Kim earned the fourth point of the match for her squad, 6-4, 6-2. With the Scots needing one more victory to seal the deal, A. Fournier put the team on her back to earn a 6-7, 6-3, 10-8 win in No. 2 singles.Â
The Fighting Scots have an off day tomorrow before returning to action on Thursday, March 9 to square off against Marietta at 9 a.m.
