Gordon College Men's Track and Field hosted their first ever Jonathan Tymann Invitational this afternoon as they invited multiple schools to the Brigham Athletic Complex.Â
In the field events, rookies
Daniel Chewning andÂ
Matthew McCluskey took fourth and fifth place in the long jump after jumping 5.85m and 5.76m, respectively, just behind Wentworth (5.87m). In the pole vault,
Joseph Tibbles earned silver with a jump of 3.55m. Meanwhile, in shot put,
Christian Smith booked a throw of 7.04m,
Davi Butkowsky was marked at 7.48m,Â
Megelet Simachew at 10.02, while
Jonathan Van Bebber had a toss of 10.85m.
Joshua Backert continued to shine in the triple jump, earning a fourth place finish with a jump of 11.84m.
Gordon's
Colin McGinn started the Fighting Scots off strong in the track events with a silver medal finish in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase with a time of 10:18.06 which was a whole ten seconds ahead of the next CCC opponent from Endicott. Meanwhile, the Scots' hot squad ofÂ

Daniel Chewning secured another second place finish for Gordon after completing the 4x100 meter relay in 43.21, just behind Hartford (42.63) and ahead of Nichols (44.28).
Daniel Erikson added to the Fighting Scots' top-10 finishes after being the sixth athlete to cross the finish in the 110m hurdles (17.95) while
Peter McGinn earned fifth place in the 400m hurdles (1:08.64). In the 400 meter dash, Backert ran his way to the top-spot with a time of 49.92, outrunning the silver medalist from Hartford by almost three whole seconds (52.68). Meanwhile,Â
Zachary Smith booked a top-10 finish in the 1500m run after crossing the finish in 4:20.29 (10th). In the 100m dash, Lonstein beat his own personal record to rewrite the Gordon College record books as he was the second athlete to cross the finish with a speedy time of 11.27, which was seven tenth of a second quicker than his previous best (11.34).
Jacob Smith earned third place in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:59.09, beforeÂ

Zachary Paige earned third and fourth in the 5000 meter run with times of 16:35.40 and 16:37.89, respectively. The Scots topped off their track events with a second place finish in the 4x400 relay as Backert, Lonstein, Tibbles and
Cameron Abbot crossed the finish in 3:29.43.Â
The Fighting Scots are back on the road on Saturday, April 15 when they travel to New London, Connecticut for the Silfen Invitational.Â
