MEET RESULTS
Select student-athletes represented the Gordon College Men's Track & Field program over the past few days at the NCAA Division III New England Track & Field Championship hosted by Springfield College. The Fighting Scots as a whole booked 11 points which is the most in program history. Additionally, the blue and white garnered three All-Region nods:
Joseph Tibbles (decathlon),
Joshua Backert (400m), and the 4x400 relay team comprised of
Jacob Smith,
Henry Lonstein, Backert, and Tibbles. In order to receive All-Region honors, one must finish in the top-eight.
Beginning on Thursday, senior Tibbles booked two second place finishes to kick off the two-day decathlon. First, Tibbles blew through the 100m in just 11.72 before crossing the finish line of the 400m dash as the clock hit 52.20. Then, on Friday the senior standout continued to impress, taking second in both pole vault (3.60m) and javelin (44.39) before coming in third in the 1500m run (4:51.28). Capping off his storied career as a Fighting Scot, Tibbles finished fourth in the region after accumulating 5277 points to break his previous school record by 36 points.
In his first of two events this weekend,
Colin McGinn ran the 10,000m in 33:26.93 on Friday before running the 3,000m steeplecahse in 10:38.86.
Backert posted a new personal best as well as new school record in the 400m dash, after taking fifth place (48.93).
Wrapping up the weekend was the 4x400m relay team of Smith, Backert, Lonstein, and Tibbles came in seventh place (out of 22) after blazing through the finish line at the 3:24.51 mark.
