Scots Cap Off Phenomenal Season At No. 5 Messiah In the First Round of the NCAA Tournament

Head coach Chuck Breton led Gordon College Women's Soccer into Grantham, Pa. for their Division III NCAA First Round match against No. 5 Messiah University. The Fighting Scots showed grit as they battled the Eagles for the right to move on to the second round. The Eagles held strong for a 6-1 win over the Scots.

How It Happened
  • The Fighting Scots kicked off with energy as they flew all over the field making runs and winning tackles. Messiah chipped a ball into the box leading to a goal for the Eagles. The Eagles scored a second goal to build a 2-0 lead.
  • Eowyn Lapp put on a display of fancy footwork creating enough space to rip a shot at the Eagles net in an attempt to get the Scots back on track. The Eagles added two more goals to their lead (4-0).
  • Fighting for a momentum shift, Amy LaRue hit a rocket into the top corner of the Eagle's net. Ava Forbes-Smith threaded a ball through to assist the goal. The first half ended with the Eagles in the lead 4-1.
  • The Scots' relentless effort held the Eagles to two goals in the second half. The game concluded in a 6-1 Eagles' win.
