Gordon College Women's Basketball hosted the University of New England Nor'easters on Tuesday night. A strong surge from the Fighting Scots in the second half put them moments from securing the win, but the Nor'easters held on for a 68-65 win.

Ami Rivera led the Fighting Scots with 18 points, shooting 70% and seven rebounds, Brynn Barnhard sank 14 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Naomi Nicholson put up 13 points.

For the Nor'easters, Gabby Stoter scored 14 points and recorded eight rebounds, Maddy Werner scored 14, and Sydney Jenisch scored 11. 

How It Happened

• The Fighting Scots' offense went through Ami Rivera in the first quarter. The senior shot 4-6 for nine points and grabbed three offensive rebounds. Brynn Barnhard put up five points including a knock down three pointer in the quarter. The Scots went into the second quarter up 20-16.
• It was Naomi Nicholson's turn to facilitate the offense in the second quarter as a she shot a perfect 3-3 to score seven points. The first half of play resulted in a 35-33 Nor'easters' lead.
• Nicholson went to work on the defensive end securing two steals. Barnhard scored four straight points to end the third quarter (54-48). 
• The Nor'easters kept it close in the fourth. They held a three point lead late in the quarter before Barnhard hit a clutch three to tie the game at 63-63. However, the Nor'easters had a late surge to give them a 68-65 win over the Scots.

• Brynn Barnhard hit a career high 14 points.
• The Fighting Scots return to action on Tuesday, December 31 as they host Alfred University.
