The Gordon College Men's Swim Team finished in third place at the 2024 Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming & Diving Championships (METS) this weekend. The three-day Championship concluded Sunday evening at the Rutgers University Werblin Aquatic Center in Piscataway, New Jersey. The Metro Collegiate Championship meet served as the 2024 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championship, which will be scored separately with results announced this week.
Overall the Fighting Scots scored 423 points, while the victors from Maine Maritime garnered 1288 points, followed by Husson who grabbed 1004 points. SUNY Delhil came in fourth with 29 points.
By The Numbers
- John Sullivan was the sixth swimmer to complete the 500 freestyle thanks to a time of 5:13.57.
- In the 50 yard freestyle, rookie sensation James Branaugh came in third after touching the wall at the 22.11 mark.
- Sullivan's time of 4:46.34 landed the senior in seventh place in the 400 yard IM.
- Stephen Mayo earned a 15th place finish in the 200 yard freestyle after posting a time of 2:08.36.
- Branaugh secured eighth place in the 100 yard breaststroke (1:04.10).
- Long Distance specialist, Sullivan registered his best placement of the weekend on Sunday after coming in fourth place in the 1650 yard freestyle (18:10.56).
- Zachary Barneson collected a 14th place finish in the 200 yard backstroke after touching the wall at the 2:23.23 mark.
- Major Adair was the 15th swimmer to complete the 100 yard freestyle thanks to a time of 51.95.
This marks the second year of membership in the NAC for the Fighting Scots.
