Peterson Notches 100 Career Hits In Monstrous Game One Victory Over ENC

For a game that was originally scheduled to be a road game this weekend, Gordon College Softball turned into the host team as they played the Eastern Nazarene Lions. Despite Gordon hosting the Lions, the Fighting Scots remained the away team with the Lions as the home team. The Scots were explosive in game one as they won 17-3 before getting edged out in game two, 5-4.

Game One
  • The Scots erupted for five runs in the top of the first courtesy of five hits with two being extra base hits.
  • After starting pitcher Emily Graham sat the Lions down in order in the bottom of the first, Gordon continued to stay hot offensively as they piled on nine more runs in the second to go on top, 14-0. In the frame, Emily Peterson hit a double to left center field for her 100th career hit.
  • ENC put three runs up on the board in the home half of the third, followed by three more runs from the Scots in the fourth to preserve the 14-run lead.
  • Gordon capped off the shortened game in style with a double play to end the game for the run-rule win.
  • Graham went the distance, scattering six hits, zero earned runs, and four strikeouts.
Game Two
  • An Ami Rivera grounder brought sister Isabella Rivera home for the game's first run in the top of the first.
  • The Lions made some noise in the fourth as they strung together four hits to plate four runs, going on top, 4-1.
  • With a double by Morgan Passolo, followed by a double by Peterson, the Scots plated two runs, bringing the score to 4-3 in the top of the fifth.
  • ENC scored in the bottom of the fifth off of a wild pitch, but the blue and white looked to add runs as they loaded up the bases, however the Lions were able to get out of the pickle with only one run scored, 5-4 in favor of ENC.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Junior Emily Peterson hit her first collegiate double to celebrate her 100th career hit as a Scot.
  • Rookie Liahna Messier knocked out her first homer and grand slam of her young collegiate career.
  • Sophomore Emily Graham recorded a career-high four hits and four RBIs in game one.
  • Gordon's 17 runs in game one is the most the blue and white have scored since 2019.
  • Ami Rivera, Isabella Rivera, and Emily Peterson each have recorded a hit in three straight games.
  • The Scots return to the diamond a week from Saturday on March 23 to host the Westfield State Owls for a doubleheader starting at 12 p.m.
