The Gordon College Softball team hosted the Viking of Salem State University in a non-conference double header, where the Fighting Scots swept the visiting team by a score of 3-2 in game one, followed by a 6-4 victory. 

Game One

• Salem took an early 2-0 lead, but the blue and white looked to comeback in the bottom of the third inning. Abby Murray had a keen eye at the plate to take first, and eventually came around to score along with teammate Emily Peterson thanks to a handful of Salem miscues, evening the score 2-all. 
• Both squads stayed locked at 2-2 for the next three innings, but in the bottom of the seventh Gordon strung together two back-to-back hits by Morgan Passolo and Peterson, putting runners on first and second. Ami Rivera moved Passolo to third, before Liahna Messier drilled a walk-off single to left field, 3-2. 

Game Two 

• The Vikings again started the top of the game hot scoring the first two runs, before Gordon cut the deficit to one going into the fourth inning, 2-1. 
• In the bottom of the sixth inning, the blue and white exploded offensively with five singles and one double, to plate five runs, and put the Scots in the lead 6-2, going into the seventh. 
• Salem attempted a comeback but the home team prevailed, 6-4.

Beyond The Box Score

• Liahna Messier has tallied a hit in six straight games. 
• Samantha Perkins had her second multi-hit game of the season as she went 2-3 in game two. 
• Gordon has won the last seven of nine meetings between the two North Shore rivals. 
• The Fighting Scots are on the road as they travel down to West Hartford, Conn. to take on the University of Hartford Hawks on Saturday, April 27 staring at 12 p.m. for a twin bill.
