Fighting Scots' Success Rolls Over In The Classroom

Over three hundred student-athletes competed for the Fighting Scots this year and channeled their commitment to the NCAA Division III model by excelling in the classroom as well as their respective playing arenas. Gordon College student-athletes collectively sported a 3.21 overall GPA during the spring semester.

Two hundred sixty three student-athletes boasted a 3.0 grade point average (GPA) or above this past semester. Fifty three Fighting Scots made Dean's List (3.50-3.74 and no grade below C), while 102 student-athletes earned Presidential Honors (3.75 or better and no grade below C). Of the 102 Scots to garner Presidential Honors, 38 recorded a flawless 4.0 GPA.

Men's and Women's Tennis took the crown with the highest male and female team GPA with a 3.60 and 3.73 GPA, respectively. Overall, 22 teams secured a GPA of 3.0 or higher, with many programs improving their GPA from the fall semester.

Among the senior graduating class, 25 student-athletes walked across the stage with honors and seven joined the Phi Alpha Chi Scholastic Honor Society which was founded in 1928 (persons eligible for membership must be graduating seniors who have pursued studies at Gordon for at least four semesters and have a high cumulative GPA, which is limited to include the top 15 percent of the graduating class).

Throughout the entire academic year, 34 student-athletes were recognized on the College Sport Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team (3.50 GPA or higher with sophomore status and contributed significantly). Additionally, three members of the rowing team earned a spot on the American Collegiate Rowing Association (ACRA) All-Region Academic Team. Within the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC), 107 student-athletes were honored on the All-CCC Academic Team (3.30 cumulative GPA or higher and sophomore status).

Alexis LaPia, Michael Bayarjargal, and Colin McGinn were awarded the Gordon College Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year Award presented to senior student-athletes with the highest GPA.
