After an incredible performance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field National Championship, Gordon's
Rachel Brennan earned second team All-America honors as announced by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Student-athletes who finished ninth through 16th individually at the National Championship were named Second-Team All-America. Brennan was one of 22 runners who qualified and competed in the 10,000m at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on May 23. Despite the event starting in the evening, the humid temperatures continued to climb and impact the race. However, Brennan finished strong, sticking to the game plan she trained for, jumping up 10 spots overall before capping off the final 2000m on a mission, bypassing five other competitors (climbing from 17th to 12th) to secure the 12th best time in the Nation.
"Rachel is a historically hard worker so it is not surprise she is making history for this program," says Head Coach
Mickey Miela. "Her commitment to excellence has brought her to this point in her career and will impact this program for years to come."
Brennan marks the first runner in Gordon College Track & Field history to claim USTFCCCA All-America honors.
