Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Gordon Silences Golden Bears, 3-0

Gordon College Women's Soccer squared off against the Western New England Golden Bears (WNE) for the first time since the Golden Bears knocked the Fighting Scots out in the conference semifinals last season. The Fighting Scots came out of the gates strong and never looked back as they claimed their second straight Conference of New England (CNE) victory by a score of 3-0.

How It Happened
  • From the opening whistle, Gordon controlled the tempo, constantly knocking at the door of WNE's defense. However, in the 27th minute, the Golden Bears had a great opportunity to score the game's first goal, but Gordon's Emily Bengtson made an incredible diving save to keep the visitors off the scoreboard.
  • Then, in the 32nd minute, Nina Ruiz found an open Ada Forbes who booted the ball past the Golden Bears' keeper to take the one-goal lead. The score remained 1-0 in favor of the home team heading into halftime.
  • Starting the party less than two minutes into the second half, Kristi Dirico continued to buff up her assists on the season as the senior led Ava Forbes-Smith who found the back of the net to make it 2-0.
  • Sophomore Eowyn Lapp widened the gap to 3-0 in the 53rd minute after looping a shot over the keeper's head.
  • Both sides traded shots down the stretch, but Gordon remained locked in to secure the shutout.
