WINDSOR, Conn. – The Gordon College women's golf team capped off a memorable weekend at the inaugural Conference of New England (CNE) Women's Golf Championship with a fifth-place finish at Keney Park Golf Course in Windsor, Connecticut.
After posting a program-record 385 in round one, the Scots closed with a 407 on day two for a two-day total of 792 — marking an average improvement of 58 strokes from their first appearance at Keney Park during the CNE Preview in early September. The results highlight the team's growing confidence, discipline, and chemistry under Head Coach Joe Ferraro.
Freshman
Myla Glaser continued her breakout season, finishing first overall in par-3 scoring with a 3.10 average and tied for the most birdies in the field (3) alongside medalist Abby Flanagan (UNE). Glaser also led Gordon with rounds of 88–91, finishing 11th individually out of 28 players, just one stroke behind Tessa Susco (Hartford).
After her round, Ferraro asked Glaser whether she thought she'd be playing this well during her first season of college golf. She laughed and replied: "No. My goal was just to break 100 more often than I did my senior year in high school."
When asked what made the biggest difference, Glaser smiled and added: "Honestly, it's the team culture."
That camaraderie has become the foundation of the program's progress — the players' closeness and commitment to supporting one another have directly fueled the Scots' rapid improvement and confidence on the course.
Cassidy Costello and
Elizabeth Parent both provided consistent scoring across both rounds. Costello recorded 102–101, including a chip-in birdie on hole 6 during round two that secured her a top-ten finish in par-3 scoring (3.60 average). Parent turned in 100–106, anchoring the middle of the lineup with steady, composed play throughout the weekend.
Olivia Miller showed tremendous progress between rounds, improving by seven strokes from her 114 on day one to 107 on day two, highlighted by a 49 on the back nine Sunday. Miller's long birdie putt from off the green on hole 1 of round one also set the tone for Gordon's strong championship start.
Chloe Korb delivered a strong 95 on day one, helping keep the Scots within striking distance of UNE, before a challenging second round of 114 as high winds and rain swept across the course. Her first-round effort proved critical in positioning the team near the middle of the pack and reflected her competitive spirit early in the weekend.
As a team, Gordon tied the University of New England for first overall in total birdies (6), with contributions from Glaser (3), Miller (1), Parent (1), and Costello (1).
At the top of the leaderboard, Suffolk University claimed the team title, followed by Hartford, Nichols, and UNE.
Coach's Perspective
"These girls have shown their grit and ability to face challenges with calculated risk and clear goals," said head coach
Joe Ferraro. "When the wind picked up and the rain started coming down in the second half of the final round, they stayed composed and continued to play smart golf. Every one of them has improved tremendously over the past five weeks, and I couldn't be prouder."
The Scots' performance marked another major step forward for a program continuing to raise its competitive ceiling with each event.
Next weekend, Gordon travels to Brewster, Massachusetts for the New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) Championship at The Captains Golf Course, where both the men's and women's teams will compete in their respective fields. The Scots will then wrap up their fall season on October 25, hosting their final tournament at Windham Country Club in Windham, New Hampshire.
