Scots Cap Off 2024-2025 Season With Third Place Metropolitan Collegiate Championships

The Gordon College Women's Swim Team traveled to New Jersey to compete at the Metropolitan Collegiate Championships over the past three days. The Fighting Scots booked a strong third place finish with a team score of 958. Roberts Wesleyan came in first with a score of 1039, while Baruch's 995 score was good enough for second.

Friday, February 14
  • Katherine Maloney opened up the championship strong for the Scots, taking third in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:31.42.
  • Rookie Lydia Shustack continued to keep the Scots going in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:21.20 to take fourth. 
  • With another strong performance, Emma Lippiatt made her way in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 26.17, putting her ahead of 22 other competitors.  
  • After day one, the Gordon College Women's Swim team was in fifth place with a total of 194 points. 

Saturday, February 15

  • Maloney, Lippiatt, Shustack, and Isabella Gadous were able to powerfully start off the second day with the 200 yard medley relay by placing second with a time of 1:55.84. 
  • Shortly after, Maloney was able to secure the second spot in the 400 yard IM with a time of 4:57.38. 
  • Later on, rookie Shustack clinched second place in the 100 yard Butterfly with a time of 1:02.53. 
  • Rookie Lippiatt was able to make her mark in the 100 yard breaststroke making her the champion with a time of 1:09.32.
  • Lippiatt was able to add onto her achievements and make a new record in the 50 breaststroke with a time of 31.85. 
  • As day two neared its end, Shustack, Gadouas, Emma Bruhl, and Maloney held onto a third place finish in the 800 yard freestyle relay with a time of 8:42.17.
  • Not far away from the top spot, the Gordon College Women's Swim Team was in third place with a total of 604 points after day two.
Sunday, February 16
  • Maloney (19:18.10), Grace Haxhinasto (21:16.31), and Arwen Hefner (21:23.75) came into the wall in third, fourth, and fifth respectively.
  • Shustack earned third in the 100 yard freestyle after registering a time of 56.80.
  • In the 200 yard breaststroke, Lippiatt cruised to the top spot with a time of 2:34.90.
  • Senior Gina Ouellette was the second swimmer to come into the finish with a time of 2:36.69 in the 200 yard butterfly.
  • Wrapping up the eventful weekend were Maloney, Gadouas, Bruhl, and Shustack in the 400 yard freestyle after orchestrating a time of 3:50.90 for second place.
