Scots Go .500 In Season-Finale With Nor'easters

Gordon College Softball traveled up to Maine today for a pair of games against the University of New England (UNE) Nor'easters where the Fighting Scots took game one by a score of 4-1 and dropped game two (7-3).

Game One
  • With Makayla Falco on second, Emily Peterson singled down the left field line to bring home Falco for the game's first run.
  • In the top of the third, Hailey Conde hit a liner to left field as Ami Rivera tagged up to make it 2-0 in favor of the Fighting Scots.
  • Rivera contributed to the Scots' lead with a bases loaded single through the left side to widen the gap to 4-0 in the top of the fourth.
  • Winning pitcher Emily Graham allowed just one run in the bottom of the fourth to the Nor'easters, scattering six hits in the complete game victory (4-1).
Game Two
  • UNE scored first this time as the Nor'easters put up two runs in the home half of the second thanks to a two-run home run.
  • Gordon answered back in the top of the third as Conde laced a double down the left field line to plate Rivera and Caoimhe Wernsing (2-2). 
  • The Nor'easters continued to roll offensively to add two more to their tally to regain the lead (4-2). However, Madison Murray had a sac fly to left to bring home her sister Mackenzie Murray (4-3) to make it a one-run ball game.
  • In the bottom of the fifth, UNE broke it open with a 3-run double to secure the eventual win.
Beyond The Box Score
  • Emily Peterson hit the 150 career hit threshold today and caps off her career with a total of 86 runs scored and a batting average of .330 in 147 career games.
  • In 156 games played, Ami Rivera has recorded a batting average of .413, 207 hits, 119 runs scores, and 120 RBIs.
  • Mackenzie Murray's most notable game this year was instrumental in a Gordon win as the senior went a perfect 2-2 against Edgewood with three RBIs.
  • Madison Murray had a standout day on Senior Day against Thomas where she went 3-6 with one run scored in a sweep of the Terriers.
  • The Fighting Scots conclude its season today and graduate four-year starters in Ami Rivera and Emily Peterson as well as two impactful transfers in Mackenzie Murray and Madison Murray.
